How to use MFY-01A seal tester to test the overall performance of soft loose plastic packaging

Keywords: sealing performance, meat food, floss, finished product packaging, leakage, leak, leakage, sealer

1, the meaning

The sealing performance of a package is a key factor related to the quality of the contents of the package. This is because the tightness of the package determines the degree to which the finished product package is independent of the external environment. If the package is poorly sealed, the gas content or components inside the package are prone to occur. Changes, such as the leakage of gas from outside the package into the package or from the gas filled inside the package, are likely to cause problems such as liquid leakage if the package contains liquid components. This can cause product quality degradation. The sealing problem of packaging is generally hidden and can not be identified by the naked eye, so it is difficult to find and deal with it in time before leaving the factory. It is often caused by the leakage and leakage of the contents due to the slow packaging during the long-term circulation and storage after leaving the factory. Moldy, agglomeration, bagging and other quality problems, companies are therefore exposed to greater risks and economic losses. Therefore, the sealing problem of packaging has always been a major problem for enterprises.

In this paper, take Floss Pine as an example to analyze the sealing problem of packaging bags. Meat floss is made from lean meat, chicken or fish in the pork. It is delicious, nutritious and easy to carry. It can be eaten directly or used as an adjunct to other foods. Because the floss itself contains less water and has a high content of nutrients, the requirement for preservation conditions is relatively high. If the package has poor sealing, the floss is prone to agglomeration, mildew and other quality problems.

2, the standard situation

At present, the testing standards for domestic package sealing are mainly GB/T 15171-1994 "Test methods for sealing performance of flexible packages".

3, test sample

The brand of plastic loose-leaf wrapped in plastic bags sold on the market.

4, test equipment

This article uses Chen Chi instrument MFY-01 A sealing tester for testing.

4.1 Test principle

By vacuuming the vacuum chamber of the equipment, the sample immersed in the vacuum chamber water generates a pressure difference between the inside and outside, and checks whether the sample leaks, thereby determining the sealing performance of the sample; or by vacuuming the vacuum chamber, Make the sample produce internal and external pressure difference, and observe the sealing performance of the sample by observing the expansion of the sample and releasing the shape of the sample after releasing the vacuum.

4.2 Application

l Suitable for the overall leak test of glass bottles, tubes, cans, boxes, etc.

l Applicable to the overall leak test of plastic bags, bottles, tubes, cans, boxes, etc.

l Suitable for the overall leak test of metal bottles, tubes, cans, boxes, etc.

l Applicable to the sealing test of paper-plastic composite bags and boxes.

l Meet the requirements of the national standard GB/T 15171 and the American standard ASTM D 3078.

4.3 Equipment Parameters

l The vacuum is 0 ~ -90KPa.

l The effective size of the vacuum chamber is 270 mm (diameter) × 210 mm (height).

5, the test process

(1) Immerse the sample in the water in the vacuum chamber.

(2) Seal the cover and set the required vacuum pressure parameters and holding time.

(3) Turn on the vacuum pump and start vacuuming. Press the start button on the device to start the test.

(4) Observe the presence or absence of continuous air bubbles on the surface of the package during vacuum pumping or during pressure holding.

6, test results

The test results of the sealing performance of the 3 finished packaging bags of Floss Pine were: 2 finished packagings did not leak at -90 KPa, and the sealing performance was good; and another finished product packaging leaked at the edge sealing at -35.4 KPa, sealing Poor sex.

7. Conclusion

Chenchi Instrument MFY-01 A Sealing Tester can be used to test the sealing performance of finished meat packaging. The test is simple in operation, short in time, high in efficiency, and can accurately reflect the sealing performance of meat floss packaging. Through the detection of the tightness of the 3 bags of dried meat floss finished packaging, it was found that not all packages can achieve good sealing performance, while the packages with poor sealing performance are prone to agglomeration, odor, mildew and other quality problems, indicating that the finished product packaging is strengthened. The importance of front sealing performance testing.

"Gravity Die Casting. A permanent mould casting process, where the molten metal is poured from a vessle of ladle into the mould, and cavity fills with no force other than gravity, in a similar manner to the production of sand castings, although filling cn be controlled by tilting the die."

Gravity Die Casting

Sometimes referred to as Permanent Mould, GDC is a repeatable casting process used for non-ferrous alloy parts, typically aluminium, Zinc and Copper Base alloys.

The process differs from HPDC in that Gravity- rather than high pressure- is used to fill the mould with the liquid alloy.

GDC is suited to medium to high volumes products and typically parts are of a heavier sections than HPDC, but thinner sections than sand casting.

There are three key stages in the process.

  1. The heated mould [Die or Tool] is coated with a die release agent. The release agent spray also has a secondary function in that it aids cooling of the mould face after the previous part has been removed from the die.
  2. Molten metal is poured into channels in the tool to allow the material to fill all the extremities of the mould cavity. The metal is either hand poured using steel ladles or dosed using mechanical methods. Typically, there is a mould [down sprue" that allows the alloy to enter the mould cavity from the lower part of the die, reducing the formation of turbulence and subsequent porosity and inclusions in the finished part.
  3. Once the part has cooled sufficiently, the die is opened, either manually or utilising mechanical methods.

Advantages

  • Good dimensional accuracy
  • Smoother cast surface finish than sand casting
  • Improved mechanical properties compared to sand casting
  • Thinner walls can be cast compared to sand casting
  • Reverse draft internal pockets and forms can be cast in using preformed sand core inserts
  • Steel pins and inserts can be cast in to the part
  • Faster production times compared to other processes.
  • Once the tolling is proven, the product quality is very repeatable.
  • Outsourced Tooling setup costs can be lower than sand casting.
