Why do calorimeters require calibration and how do they calibrate?

Why does the calorimeter require calibration?

1. During the transfer of calorific value, the oxygen bombs, inner barrels, and water in the conductive pathways all generate heat, which affects the measurement results. Temperature compensation is required to ensure accurate results, which requires calibration.

2, different room temperature will affect the water temperature of the outer cylinder, thereby affecting the thermal consumption of the oxygen bomb, the inner barrel, etc., the greater the change in the water temperature of the outer cylinder caused by the ambient temperature, the greater the error.

Calorimeter how to calibrate?

1. Observe the calorific value of benzoic acid. In the instrument setting interface, modify the Q parameter in the “System” and save it. The Q parameter should be changed to caloric value of benzoic acid. Then change all parameters in the "coal" and "raw material" items to 0.000 and save them. Save and exit the "Settings" screen.

2. Weigh the weight of benzoic acid in the oxygen bomb and ensure that the weighing is accurate to four decimal places. Press the “Calibration” button on the instrument manufacturer, enter the sample weight and water time, and press “Effective” until the instrument prints the results.

3, when water is added, the water must be filled with the inflating nozzle of the oxygen bomb. Check if there is any air leakage. If there is a bubble, there is a problem with the oxygen bomb.

4, do more than two calibrations to compare, so find the average value to be able to find satisfactory results. Finally, the average values of E, A, K obtained are input into the instrument to complete the calibration.
