MANN+HUMMEL plans to open a filter R&D center in Germany

German automotive parts supplier MANN+HUMMEL has announced that it will open a filter R&D center at its Marklkofen plant in Germany.

MANN+HUMMEL will invest 4.5 million euros (about 5.57 million US dollars) to establish the R & D center, of which 3.5 million euros for the construction of housing equipment, and the remaining 1 million euros for the R & D center to purchase laboratory equipment. MANN+HUMMEL said that the core of this investment is laboratory equipment, test equipment, and equipment needed for the clean room environment.

The R&D center staff will conduct extensive tests on filter products used in the automotive and machinery industries to improve the quality of these products. The R&D center can accommodate approximately 40 employees.

The construction of the new R&D center will start in July this year. All laboratories and test equipment will be put into use in the second quarter of 2013.

MANN+HUMMEL is dedicated to the development and supply of original ancillary equipment for the international automotive industry and engineering machinery industry. In the automotive industry, MANN+HUMMEL products include multifunctional plastic air filtration systems, intake manifold systems, liquid filtration systems, air conditioning filters and cylinder head covers, and filter cartridges for after-sales service and maintenance of vehicles.
