Moreover, from the perspective of waste treatment, the main component of domestic lithium battery electrolyte is lithium hexafluorophosphate, its pollution is several times higher than the dry battery, if not handled properly, it will cause inestimable damage to the regional water and ecosystem. A senior industry official said that lead-acid batteries have recently been re-optimized, mainly because they can be recycled, and they are environmentally friendly after sales, while lithium batteries are difficult to recycle. He disclosed that recently the United States has also introduced some new lead-acid battery technology routes to China, indicating that the lithium battery is still a long way to replace lead-acid batteries.

At the 3rd China Battery Technology Innovation (Shanghai) Forum 2011, Yang Yusheng, an authoritative expert in the field of batteries and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated: “The lead-acid battery itself is not polluting, but there are pollution problems in the production process. This really needs to be big. Efforts have been made to rectify the problem. The domestic lead-acid battery industry is uneven, and this rectification mainly deals with those companies that have already begun to redouble their efforts and helps large companies to develop better." He believes that lead-acid batteries have their own characteristics and scope of application. With 152 years of history, there is still such a large capacity and scale. This is no accident. “In the short term, there is no sign of lithium batteries replacing lead-acid batteries.” Huang Xuejie, a researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also pointed out that lithium batteries have the advantage of high energy density, but there are still safety issues, including Shanghai, Nanjing and even France. Lithium battery explosion or spontaneous combustion accident. Lithium batteries have to be highly concerned about safety while increasing their energy density. He suggested increasing the R&D support for the entire industrial chain of lithium-ion power batteries; secondly, establishing a national power battery evaluation system and platform network, and at the same time making the test data public and allowing new energy vehicle manufacturers to choose. “The research and development of electric vehicle batteries in our country started earlier. Although there are more than 100 companies that passed the inspection, there are very few that can be tested on the train. This is due to the lack of a unified national evaluation system, the confusion of judgment standards, and the low threshold.” Said that at the same time, the national lithium-ion battery safety technical committee should be established. The new energy battery must be considered in the long term, and attention should be paid to the use and recycling problems. Otherwise, the lead of the lead-acid battery will be late for several years.
