For American LaFrance collectors

This message is from John Tobin:

Here's a story about an ALF 1000 series fire engine that I recently restored. It was originally a brand new unit in the 1970s, used by the South Chicago Heights Fire Department in Illinois. Fast forward to the mid-1990s, when the cab was bought by the Zion Fire Department. They had 3-D Metals modify it by cutting off the roof and converting the open cab into a closed one on their AP chassis.
I saw a lot of potential in this piece and didn’t want it to end up in a scrap yard. So, I decided to cut just the front section off, mount it on wheels, give it a fresh coat of paint, and add a South Park bell. That’s how I turned it into a unique display piece.
If any ALF enthusiasts are interested in seeing or acquiring this, please let me know. The Elgin logo can easily be removed, and a new department name can be added if desired.

It’s always exciting to see these old rigs come back to life. If you're a fan of American LaFrance or vintage fire apparatus, this could be a cool addition to your collection or display. Feel free to reach out if you'd like more details or photos!
