Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-4-17

This report comes from Steve Redick:

We responded to a fire in a small house located in the 4300 block of Henderson Street. The home was described as being in hoarder conditions, which made the situation more challenging. The location was on a dead-end street that led up to a railroad embankment. Our first engine arrived on scene, and both engines backed into the block to establish a water supply. Eventually, both units used the same hydrant for their operations. Engine 91 connected to Engine 7’s gate valve, and despite the tight space, everything was handled efficiently.

A large tree obstructed the use of a tower or aerial ladder, forcing crews to rely solely on ground ladders for roof access. This added complexity to an already difficult job, but the firefighters handled it with professionalism and speed. It was a tough call, but the team did an excellent job under pressure.
