Energy-saving prospects for construction machinery

Energy-saving prospects for construction machinery It is understood that China can now be called "the world's largest construction site." The engineering construction has driven the rapid development of the construction machinery industry. Currently, construction machinery has become the second largest user of internal combustion engines after the automotive industry. However, the requirements for the discharge of construction machinery products in China have been relatively loose, and have become a heavy burden on our country's environment. Some experts predict that in order to fulfill the task of energy conservation and emission reduction, the construction machinery industry will become an important sector for China to promote energy conservation and emission reduction in the next 5 to 10 years.

At the Fifth Session of the Eleventh National People's Congress in March of this year, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council pointed out in a government work report that China's energy-saving emission reduction has not been completed.

First, the task of energy conservation and environmental protection is arduous. According to statistics, since the 20th century, the global average temperature has increased by 0.4~0.8°C, and the extreme climate events caused by climate change have increased, such as the melting of ice and snow, rising sea levels, reduced grain production, and extinction of a large number of species. It has already threatened the survival of mankind itself, and one of the culprits in this situation is the excessive emission of greenhouse gases. Therefore, taking necessary actions to reduce man-made greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, and protect the natural environment have become the common responsibility of all mankind; and for enterprises, various initiatives are being taken to promote energy-saving festivals. Its performance of social responsibility.

With the growing market size of construction machinery in China and the development of related technologies such as information technology, the development of the construction machinery industry in the Chinese market is in full swing. However, in the rapid development process, the demand for resources also continues to rise. High demand will inevitably lead to high consumption. Whether it is energy, steel, or other needs will consume more resources to some extent, if not effective The use of resources will cause great waste. At present, traditional products are far from meeting the requirements for air quality at the current stage. Although environmental taxes and carbon taxes are not currently collected, traditional products are not sufficient to support the future development of the entire industry. If long-term sustainable development is to be achieved, Only continuous technological upgrading and reform and innovation.

The "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" shows that energy conservation and environmental protection are the first of the new industries. The total investment in environmental protection this year is expected to be over 600 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25%. It is the year with the highest investment growth in the five-year plan. The 12th Five-Year Plan for Industrial Energy Conservation shows the overall goal of industrial energy conservation: by 2015, the energy consumption of industries above designated size will have decreased by about 21% compared with 2010. The stringent requirements put forward by the state have caused construction machinery companies to place energy conservation and environmental protection in an important position in their development strategies. Not only that, with the country's attention to environmental protection and the rapid increase in the price of petroleum and other petrochemical fuels, construction machinery energy-saving and environmental protection products have also become a new weapon for construction machinery companies to compete for the market. After all, being able to do more with the same fuel is something that every customer is happy to see.

Second, product emissions do not meet the standards, restricting exports It is understood that by the end of 2011, China's construction machinery products consume more fuel each year than the annual total cost of construction machinery; and the United States, Japan and other market access thresholds are constantly improving, in In the setting of trade barriers, the limits of emission standards will bear the brunt. As the construction machinery industry is difficult to save energy and reduce emissions, it is more subject to technical bottlenecks and other issues. Increasing research and development efforts is an effective way to solve this situation.

According to statistics from the China Construction Machinery Business Network, domestic engineering machinery product exports declined quarter by quarter in 2011. The reason, in addition to the shrinking market, is more affected by the details of the "EU standards" for product energy-saving and emission reduction, underdeveloped dealer networks, and inhumane after-sales services. An analyst in the machinery industry once pointed out that in the future, an important development trend in the world machinery manufacturing industry is that energy conservation and environmental protection will be increasingly valued by users and manufacturers.

“In the United Kingdom, 85% of consumers pay attention to the environmental attributes of products when they purchase products.” Zhong Dexin, director of cooperation and development of WWF, believes that if the product’s superior performance in energy saving will undoubtedly help its market in Europe and the United States The development.

The export performance of Shandong Lingong in 2011 confirmed the above viewpoint. With the excellent performance of energy-saving products, Shandong Lingong exported 3,819 sets of loaders in 2011. The export earnings reached US$126 million, and the cumulative export volume of loaders for the entire year jumped. Ranked first in the industry in the country. In the European Union, South America and many other markets where there are rigid indicators of environmental protection, temporary workers have also made gratifying achievements. Lin Meng, executive director of Linggong, said that the overseas growth rate of temporary loaders will reach 40% to 50% in 2012. “The achievement of this goal is inseparable from the market's pulling effect of energy-saving products!”

"For enterprises, the development of overseas markets and the market application of energy-saving products are a process of simultaneous interweaving and mutual support." Professionals said, "On the one hand, the emphasis on energy saving and environmental protection in overseas markets, and the output of energy-saving products through enterprises, It can expand and consolidate overseas positions; on the other hand, through the research and study of world-class energy-saving technologies, the company's energy-saving technologies will achieve continuous upgrading.

Experts pointed out that from the international market to the domestic market, energy saving has become an increasingly important deciding factor in the game between the technology and the market as the first driving force.

Third, energy-saving and emission-reducing effects have begun to appear. Concerning surviving energy-saving and emission-reducing, environmental protection has become a hot topic in the construction machinery industry. Chinese construction machinery companies have introduced concepts such as "technological innovation," "environmental protection," and "remanufacturing." The new products mean that the entire industry is transforming into a green and smart one. At the same time, energy-saving emission reduction and environmental protection have penetrated into the development of the entire industry. It is not difficult to see that the current energy-saving emission reduction and environmental protection have become a major trend in the development of the industry.

It is gratifying that in the field of construction machinery, the trend of energy saving and emission reduction is also on the heels of day. For example, industry giants including Sany Heavy Industry, Zoomlion, etc. have started to develop energy-saving products, and the industry’s energy-saving effect is also Continue to make breakthroughs. In the field of excavators, a considerable number of companies are optimistic about energy-saving and environmentally friendly products. The new GC228LC-8 hydraulic hybrid excavator of the Mountain Rebuilder uses hydraulic energy storage technology for energy recovery, and acts as an auxiliary power source and a main power source to supply energy to the load to form a new type of oil hybrid drive system. According to reports, compared with the traditional power excavator, energy-saving effect reached 10% to 15%, while reducing pollution emissions. Kobelco's SK80H hybrid excavator uses a hybrid power system that converts energy from no-load, light-load, and stop-rotation to electrical energy, stores it in batteries, and uses it until it is needed. Shanhe Intelligence introduced the SWE230S excavator and introduced a parallel hybrid system. The test results showed that in a typical excavation condition, fuel consumption was reduced by 24.7%, harmful gas emissions were reduced by 32%, and rotational noise was reduced by nearly 40%. According to relevant statistics, these new energy-saving products have been welcomed by users to varying degrees.

Regarding this, some industry experts have expressed their concern at the same time when they give a high evaluation: “Most of the domestic companies are still at the product level, lacking clear strategies and targets, and lagging behind international trends. This is for domestic companies. The internationalization process and the development of overseas markets are all concerns."

It is understood that the world's leading companies have integrated energy conservation and emission reduction as a corporate strategy and habits into their daily business processes, and some have even become one of the elements of corporate culture. China's construction machinery manufacturers still have a long way to go in energy conservation and emission reduction.

"Gravity Die Casting. A permanent mould casting process, where the molten metal is poured from a vessle of ladle into the mould, and cavity fills with no force other than gravity, in a similar manner to the production of sand castings, although filling cn be controlled by tilting the die."

Gravity Die Casting

Sometimes referred to as Permanent Mould, GDC is a repeatable casting process used for non-ferrous alloy parts, typically aluminium, Zinc and Copper Base alloys.

The process differs from HPDC in that Gravity- rather than high pressure- is used to fill the mould with the liquid alloy.

GDC is suited to medium to high volumes products and typically parts are of a heavier sections than HPDC, but thinner sections than sand casting.

There are three key stages in the process.

  1. The heated mould [Die or Tool] is coated with a die release agent. The release agent spray also has a secondary function in that it aids cooling of the mould face after the previous part has been removed from the die.
  2. Molten metal is poured into channels in the tool to allow the material to fill all the extremities of the mould cavity. The metal is either hand poured using steel ladles or dosed using mechanical methods. Typically, there is a mould [down sprue" that allows the alloy to enter the mould cavity from the lower part of the die, reducing the formation of turbulence and subsequent porosity and inclusions in the finished part.
  3. Once the part has cooled sufficiently, the die is opened, either manually or utilising mechanical methods.

Advantages

  • Good dimensional accuracy
  • Smoother cast surface finish than sand casting
  • Improved mechanical properties compared to sand casting
