The first passenger car refrigeration cycle system using an ejector

Denso has developed a system that uses a small refrigerant ejector in the refrigeration cycle of passenger car air conditioners and car refrigerators. The system has been used as an option for Toyota's Land Cruiser, which was launched in Japan in September 2007. The device will also be available in the "land cruiser" listed in North America, Central and South America, and Asia around the world in October.
In the past, in many systems in which the automobile air conditioner and the vehicle refrigerator use the same refrigeration cycle, the flow of the refrigerant for the air conditioner and the refrigerator for the vehicle is mostly switched by the electromagnetic valve. Therefore, the use of a car refrigerator affects the performance of the car air conditioner. The system developed this time replaces the conventional expansion valve with an ejector, and also eliminates the solenoid valve, enabling the automobile air conditioner and the vehicle refrigerator to operate at the same time.
By using an ejector capable of injecting high-pressure refrigerant at a high speed and expanding it, the energy lost in the expansion valve is converted into pressure energy, and the efficiency of energy utilization is greatly improved by reducing the compressor load. Therefore, high air-conditioning performance and refrigeration performance can be achieved when using a vehicle refrigerator.
The system using the ejector was first installed in the world by electric equipment in 2003 and applied to the freezer, and also in the household natural refrigerant (CO2) water heater "Ecocute". As a system that can greatly improve the energy efficiency of the refrigeration cycle, the company has been engaged in research on its application to the refrigeration cycle for automotive air conditioners.
