These leaves have greater advantages in receiving sunlight and have a high photosynthetic rate, which is the key to improving grain yield.

Through the measurement of living leaf area meter, it was found that the size of the upper three leaves in the grain filling stage had a certain correlation with the grain yield per plant. The upper leaves of the second and third leaves were functional leaves, which had the greatest impact on grain yield. In the medium term, it is impossible to make the leaf area develop too much and seal it early to ensure that the stem is stout. In the later period, the upper leaves should be kept green, prevent early drying, extend the leaf age, enrich the grains, and increase the grain weight.
