On April 5, the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas from the Sichuan Dazhou Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. with a 200,000-ton/year methanol project successfully produced refined methanol. The product was tested as an excellent product and met the US “AA†standard. The commissioning of the project achieved the company's goal of producing 500,000 tons of methanol per year, which signifies that the scale of methanol production of Steel Group will reach a new level.
This project is an energy-saving technological transformation project for the production of methanol by the Dagang Group using the coke oven gas produced by the Chemical Industry Park. The project was officially started in September 2010. After nearly two years, it entered the plant in March 2012. It produced raw methanol on April 4 and refined methanol on April 5.
