From the inbox of Eric Haak:
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share some quick updates and photos from the still and box alarm incident that happened on Wednesday near the intersection of Pershing Road and Wolcott. The timeline for this event was as follows: initial still alarm at 11:08 AM, box alarm activation at 11:10 AM, and the box alarm was officially struck at 11:27 AM. Engine 49 responded swiftly upon arrival, as reports indicated there might be people trapped on the second floor. Thankfully, all residents managed to evacuate safely and were accounted for without any issues.
The main focus of the fire was on the back porches and the upper level. All four engines involved in this operation had their lines operational right away. Engine 49 and Engine 39 were positioned along Pershing, while Engine 50 secured a hydrant further down the block on Honore Street. Engine 65 was stationed on Wolcott. It’s worth noting just how quickly things were brought under control—by the time I arrived at the scene at 11:40 AM, the situation was already well in hand.
Attached below are some images taken by yours truly. You’ll see various perspectives of the Chicago Fire Department's efforts, including Engine 39, Engine 50, Engine 49, and Engine 65 in action. I also managed to capture a broader view of the scene with our ladder truck in position.

As always, my thanks go out to all the brave firefighters who put themselves in harm's way every day to keep us safe.
Best regards,
Eric
