I captured this around 5:00 am on Thursday, January 5th. The first report came in about a fire at a pallet yard located at 48th and Morgan. From the street, it looked more like a pile of discarded items that had caught fire, with just a few stacks of pallets visible. Engine 50 was positioned inside the yard, but their location wasn't visible from the road. It was pretty dark out, so the scene was hard to make out unless you were right there.

These photos give a real sense of what it was like on the scene. The fire was hidden among the debris, which made it challenging for crews to locate and contain. It’s amazing how quickly the firefighters responded and how focused they were despite the difficult conditions. I think it’s important to recognize their efforts, especially when working in places like this where visibility is limited and the environment is unpredictable.
