The Moreland family, who owns the McDonald’s in West Frankfort, recently organized a unique fundraiser for the local fire department. While they’ve hosted charity events before, this was their first time supporting the firefighters directly.
During the event, firefighters were on-site helping with orders, preparing food, and even sharing a meal with the community. A total of 20% of all sales went to the fire department, and they also sold cookies and accepted donations. In just one night, they raised an impressive $1,132.51.
In addition to the fundraising, several firetrucks were on display for the public to explore, giving residents a closer look at the equipment that keeps them safe.
The Moreland family emphasized the importance of building personal connections with firefighters. They believe that spending quality time with first responders helps build trust and makes people more comfortable in emergency situations.
West Frankfort Fire Chief Jody Allen expressed his gratitude for the support. He hopes this event inspires more people to consider a career in firefighting. The funds raised will be used to purchase new equipment, including a training device that will help improve emergency response skills.
