This is the first in a series of updates covering the massive fire that broke out in Cicero on Tuesday night.
The fire started at 1829 54th Avenue and quickly spread to 1843 54th Avenue. Within less than an hour, the incident was escalated to four alarms, prompting a special call for assistance from Chicago Fire Department and a task force from MABAS Division 20.
Here are some photos from Eric Haak — more will come from Tim Olk, Jeff Rudolph, and Larry Shapiro, so stay tuned.
Eric shared a few notes about his shots:
> "The first photo I took shows the initial stage of the fire. Shots 4 and 5 capture the intense flames blowing out the side of the building about 10 minutes later. Photos 6, 7, and 8 show Oak Park’s ladder truck working the corner of Sector 2/3. Picture 3 features the Cicero Engine 1 using its deck gun, which they only did for a short time."
