This is from Mike Lopina:
Shortly after 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7th, Calumet Park and auto aid companies were called out for a fire at the address 127th & Justine. Chief 2200 was the first to arrive, with visible smoke coming from the rear of a one-story, 20x20 office/utility building attached to a 35x70, three-story residential apartment over a store. Shortly after, Cal Park Truck 2224 arrived, was directed to the rear, and deployed the main line to the roof. Garden Homes, Marionette Park, Robbins, Alsip engines, and a Posen ambulance responded, along with Riverdale’s acting chief and a Marionette Park deputy chief. Riverdale and Blue Island had to take passes due to limited resources.
It was interesting to note that Garden Homes showed up second on this call, ahead of most other units, and immediately got to work. This is especially notable given their recent mention in another post. The structure had been renovated following a major fire around six or seven years ago, which makes this incident even more significant in terms of fire history and response coordination.
