Martin Nowak came across an exciting new delivery announcement on the Alexis Fire Apparatus website, featuring the Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District. The fire department recently received a brand-new pumper truck, Engine 2222, which has already generated a lot of interest from local firefighters and residents alike.
The unit, pictured above, is a striking side-control pumper that promises to enhance the district's emergency response capabilities. The truck was custom-built by Alexis Fire Apparatus and features a Spartan Metro Star MFD chassis with a 10-inch raised roof. It’s powered by a powerful Cummins ISC8.3 diesel engine, delivering 380 horsepower, and paired with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission for smooth performance.
Inside, the cab is designed for comfort and efficiency, with seating for six crew members, including five SCBA storage spots. The truck also includes a federal Q2B siren mounted on the front bumper, along with a remounted Alexis aluminum body. Additional features include increased hosebed capacity, compartment modifications, and a comprehensive lighting package from Whelen, featuring both LED scene and warning lights.
Other notable specs include an electric rewind cord reel, additional upper coffin-style compartments, LED brow lights in the cab, and an EMS box installed inside. With a total height of 10 feet 2 inches, a length of 32 feet 8 inches, and a wheelbase of 187 inches, this pumper is built for both power and maneuverability.
The vehicle has a gross weight rating of 47,000 pounds, with a front axle weight rating of 20,000 pounds and a rear axle weight rating of 27,000 pounds. These specifications make it well-suited for demanding firefighting operations in the St. Charles area.
